This position is part of Novanta’s World of Medicine (WOM) business unit. Specialized in the field of Minimally Invasive Medicine, WOM develops devices and accessories so that doctors can operate with small cuts. We produce Cameras, Insufflators, Medical Pumps, and tubing that makes diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone. Our insufflators and pump systems dilate cavities in the body and turn previously complicated surgeries into minor procedures. Together with customers, doctors, and technical experts, our teams continuously search for new ways to innovate.
This job is responsible for assuring material compliance of purchased goods and services in the medical device industry.
Primary Responsibilities
1. The expert ensures that raw materials are designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the Medical Device Regulation (MDR)
2. They identify potential risks related to the materials used, such as toxicity, inflammatory properties, and interactions with biological tissue
3. The expert maintains up-to-date technical documentation on the materials and their compliance
4. The Expert directly communicate with suppliers to obtain material compliance statements and develop strategies if communication yields no results.
5. Implement and maintain Software to ensure up to date material compliance.
6. Conducting risk and impact assessments of materials at BOM level
7. Training development for employees on material compliance strategies, policies and processes to create awareness and ensure compliance.
8. Creation of reports to monitor the status of material compliance within the organization and vis-à-vis external stakeholders.
General tasks
9. Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management officer and the occupational safety specialist.
10. The manager is responsible for creating and maintaining facilities for his or her area of responsibility, and for giving instructions and taking other measures to ensure, maintain and improve occupational safety and environmental protection regarding occupational safety and environmental protection, the prevention of occupational accidents and environmental damage, occupational diseases and work-related health hazards.
Required Experience
11. +3 years of professional experience in the area of Supply Chain, Material compliance or materials engineering
12. Analytical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills
13. Degree in environmental protection, engineering, chemistry, business management or a comparable course of study
14. Excellent communicator with high level of interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with other on all levels of the organization
15. Open-minded, innovative, and willing to challenge the status quo
16. Ability to engage people and mitigate conflicts
17. Good understanding of ERP systems (SAP S4/Hana, Oracle)
18. Experience in industrial multinational matrix organizations
19. Fluent in English and German (oral and written), any other European language is seen as asset
20. Driving license required
