Hauptaufgaben Incumbent applies the corresponding technical knowledge, and materiel identification and quality inspection methods procedures, standards and regulations required for the performance of below listed inspection duties. As directed, conducts final acceptance, care and preservation, receiving, shipping, and In-Storage and/or demilitarization inspections of regulated, sensitive, and critical items such as industrial and combat type major equipment and components and major assemblies. Reviews data indicated on accompanying documents of material for completeness, correctness, and conformity with supplies to determine or verify identity. Refers to a wide variety of reference material. Reads and interprets catalog item descriptions to determine which major components must be attached to items. Conducts extensive and exhaustive searches for information required for materials identification. Applies own experience to establish proper identity of materiel received without documents and any other identification markings. Inspects items applying visual, audial, or operational test methods to determine condition code and degree of serviceability. Checks for deficiencies affecting quality such as dents, broken and missing parts, grade of corrosion, worn threads, torn wires, blocked gears, exceeded shelf-life etc. Refers to material category structure code and code reference guide to select appropriate condition code symbol to be assigned according to criteria such as age of item, repair cost allowance, item life time etc. Submits material or samples to laboratories or test shops for examinations, analysis or tests. Initiates evaluation of defective materiel for repair or other disposition. Observes care and preservation processes to insure proper disassembly and reassembly of equipment and repair and replacement of parts. Assists production personnel in remedying unexpected difficulties and pinpointing processes or actions that could detrimentally affect the quality of the final product. Performs other duties as assigned.
