As part of a major corporate-wide digital transformation program, more than 1,000 agile project members are developing the future of technology, digital solutions, and tools. In this key executive role, you will shape the operating model and core processes in software engineering—empowering product teams to build outstanding solutions and driving the modernization of architectures and practices.
Tasks
* Co-Lead the Digital Transformation program: Work closely with executive leadership to guide strategic decisions, collaborate on major initiatives, and ensure alignment between business goals and technology strategy.
* Engineering Operating Model Ownership: Define and optimize organizational structures, decision-making processes, and reporting standards that foster efficient development and rapid time-to-market.
* Set Standards & Best Practices: Establish and refine software architecture guidelines, coding standards, and modern engineering practices across all product teams.
* Mentoring & Team Enablement: Coach teams on agile methods, DevOps practices, and continuous improvement (MVPs, iterative feedback, automation). Cultivate a collaborative, high-trust culture that supports learning and innovation.
* Architecture Governance: Coordinate architecture boards or committees, oversee critical technology choices, and spearhead the modernization and integration of existing systems (e.g., with SAP Business Technology Platform).
* Stakeholder Communication: Report progress, risks, and resource needs to senior management, ensuring transparent decision-making and a clear focus on value-driven outcomes.
Requirements
* Proven Leadership in Large Transformations: Several years in a leadership position managing agile product teams and complex software initiatives within global enterprises, ideally with an emphasis on architecture and process optimization.
* Deep Technical Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of modern software architectures, development tools, cloud technologies, and data-driven decision-making.
* Coaching & Collaboration Skills: Ability to inspire, mentor, and empower product teams, fostering a results-driven and customer-oriented mindset.
* Product & Results Orientation: Track record of delivering tangible value to internal and external customers, driving continuous improvement.
* Strategic Perspective: Skilled at holistic planning and innovation, identifying new technologies or processes that can accelerate organizational success.
