I am working with a global organization in the Telecoms sector who is looking to hire an experienced General Manager to lead their team in Berlin.
Reporting to the Director of Regional Strategy, this is a newly created role that will provide oversight and management of the strategic goals for the German market, in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team and the various internal departments.
Responsibilities:
1. Own the development of the in-market strategy and co-ordinate with all functions to ensure the delivery of the strategy for the market.
2. Manage senior stakeholder relationships both internally and externally on behalf of the market.
3. Build executive relationships with all customers to proactively avoid impact of churn.
4. Oversee finance, sales, operations to ensure cashflow is maintained and maximized.
5. Contribute to ensuring all local members are working towards the same goals and provide insight into corporate objectives.
6. Understand requirements for inorganic growth and participate in the sourcing of opportunities through existing or new relationships.
7. Responsible for the quarterly business review process on behalf of the market, working cross-functionally with heads of departments to give SMT team the market overview.
8. Provide support and market knowledge to different business groups active in the market in their day-to-day work and when specific arbitration is required.
9. Represent the market in different corporate instances (boards, meetings, industry associations etc).
10. Responsible for local team member communications, enforcement of company policies and procedures and office administration, working jointly with department managers and Human Resources.
11. Support corporate marketing for the in-market brand execution for the group, internally and externally where relevant.
12. Be an ambassador for company values in the market.
Requirements & Qualifications:
1. 10+ years of management experience in multidisciplinary roles in telecommunications, technology, or real estate industries.
2. Primary degree in Business/ Finance/ Engineering.
3. Experience as General Manager or Head of Function being accountable for a Business Unit / Support Unit.
4. Experience in overseeing and managing a team with cross functional reporting.
5. Good knowledge of the German digital infrastructure landscape.
6. Understanding of high-level investment processes (organic and inorganic).
7. Exposure to the operations of infrastructure assets or real estate is a distinct advantage.
8. Ability to work in an environment of accelerated rhythm and under pressure.
9. Effective in an entrepreneurial culture, working independently and as part of a team.
10. Fluent in German and English, both oral and written.
