Hauptaufgaben
Depending on needs and schedules, employee may be assigned to perform in the Plumber Shop of the Department of Public Works, Baumholder or at the fully automatized water plant.
Plumber Shop Duties:
Serves as senior journeyman plumber with full responsibility for installing, repairing, maintaining, and modifying all kinds of drinking water and sewer related systems in the garrison. These are mainly, but not limited to: domestic hot and cold water systems with boilers, fresh water stations, water filters, backflow preventers, system separators, pumps, fixtures, automatic flushing devices, piping, toilets, urinals incl. parts and house connections of the sewer system.
Incumbent performs customer service for the above mentioned systems in the housing, single soldier, kitchen, storage and motor pool areas of the Baumholder Military Community. After receiving service or work orders from supervisors incumbent plans and lays out work that may be large and manifold in scope in accordance with often incomplete or otherwise complicated drawings, sketches, blueprints, and building plans. Plans and lays out the routing, placement, slant, slope, and fall of complete systems to insure their proper operation. Determines tools and equipment, methods, and techniques best suited to achieve required results.
Prepares materials and equipment by measuring, cutting, or bending it to required dimensions and forms. Performs complicated repairs and installations, installs or modifies non-standard equipment and equipment combinations and couplings, which require the application of special skills and techniques, in compliance with practices and standards established in the job profile for the occupation. Determines and locates hard-to-find defects and leaks. Tests systems and equipment for proper operation. Fights legionella bacteria with thermal and/ or chemical treatments. Uses the full range of trade's tools and equipment, e.g. presses for piping connections, compressors, pumps, sewer camera systems, spirals for unplugging sewer lines and toilets.
Water Plant Duties:
Serves at journeyman level with responsibility for operation, maintenance and repair work on parts, components and equipment of fully automatized water plant situated at Hoppstaedten. Is responsible for monitoring a large variety of instruments and equipment to control raw water and clean water pumped, quantity of water pumped, and level of high basing and other reservoirs, voltage of transformer stations, and efficiently and quantity pumped by natural wells.
Is responsible for the maintenance of the waterworks including all associated work (e.g. landscape gardening and other facility work etc.). Uses the computer based control unit of the water treatment system which produces the drinking water for the Baumholder installation. He/she is in constant communication with the associated laboratory staff who controls the measurement parameters of the water treatment plant. Taking water samples within prescribed intervals or even between if need arises can be necessary as well. Adds prescribed dosage of chemicals or chlorine by means of doing equipment or manually. Performs prescribed maintenance by cleaning and exchanging sieves lubricating etc. Billing of the output water amount pumped to the garrison, used amount of chemicals and operation hours of the water plant needs to be made.
Detects cause of malfunctioning of equipment and instruments shown by the notifications of the computer based control unit. Makes on the spot decisions as to extent of repair work, i.e., if necessary action can be taken to correct deficiencies on his/her own or if shop personnel or supervisors has to be notified in case of major repair to be accomplished. Assisting Water Distribution/Electrical/Plumbing Installers/Repairers/ Instrument Mechanics or contractors to repair items that are usually composed of a number of electrical, mechanical, hydromatic, pneumatic subassemblies and electronic components. Applicant assists above mentioned professionals in adjustment and replacing parts as required and applies modifications in accordance with technical manual and/or instructions given. Work involves operating the computer based control unit of the water treatment system including various checks, tests, adjustments, and troubleshooting tasks (mostly self-displayed by the digital control unit).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
A4-4206-05:
Completed vocational training of at least 30 months in the appropriate trade.
Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung in der entsprechenden Gewerbegruppe mit einer Ausbildungsdauer von mindestens 30 Monaten.
OR/ODER
5 years of specialized experience.
5 Jahre einschlaegige Berufserfahrung.
A4-4206-06:
Completed vocational training in the appropriate trade PLUS 2 years experience at a level of difficulty comparable to the Wage Group 5 or equivalent. The applicant must be able to perform the duties independently.
Abgeschlossene Berufsausbildung in der entsprechenden Gewerbegruppe mit einer Ausbildungsdauer von mindestens 30 Monaten, PLUS 2 Jahre Berufserfahrung in der Lohngruppe 5 oder in, vom Schwierigkeitsgrad vergleichbaren Taetigkeiten, welche selbstaendig ausgeuebt wurden.
OR/ODER
8 years of specialized experience of which 3 years must have been performed at the wage group 5 or equivalent level.
