Ensures that all legally required federal and local taxes Social Security contributions and other deductions are withheld from individual paychecks. Serves as a liaison with other departments units or locations in the resolution of payroll problems. Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the payroll function. Performs the check production and distribution processes for oncycle payrolls. Ensures that the preparation and distribution of payrolls meet established schedules company policies and government regulations. Performs the check production and distribution processes for offcycle payrolls. Ensures that offcycle checks are produced timely in accordance to company policy and union agreements. Maintains tables for internal and external systems and updates employee records for payroll related changes tax direct deposit etc.. Responds to the HR Manager s inquiries related to payroll. Triages tracks and follows through to problem resolution. Stays abreast of and applies statefederal regulations to ensure compliance. Accomplishes other payroll administrative duties and assists on project work as needed. Associate s or Bachelor s degree in Finance or related field or equivalent experience 3 5 years of experience processing high volume payroll from start to finish Proficiency in PeopleSoft Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite primarily Excel and Word Knowledge of multistate payroll taxes and labor laws Working knowledge of manufacturing and union payroll processes and basic knowledge of accounting processes CPP or FPC certification preferred An advanced degree in public relations organizational communications is preferred.
