The department of Cell and Tissue Technologiesis located in the main institute in Stuttgart and focuses onanimal-free in vitro test alternatives. The New ApproachMethodologies (NAMs), for the preclinical testing of efficacy andtoxicity of substances, has enormous potential for appliedresearch. The department has been working in the field of cell andmolecular biology for more than 25 years and has extensiveexpertise in the genetic modification of cells and the developmentof genetically modified cell lines as well as in the establishmentof complex tissues e.g., human in vitro skin models. Thedepartment's portfolio includes its own and patented 2D in vitrotest and screening systems as well as various skin models anddisease models of the skin. Of course, the department is alsoinvolved in the differentiation of organoids from hiPSC and theestablishment of different spheroids.
