As a leading company in its industry with a significant market presence in Europe, India, and North America, it has been expanding at a rapid pace, growing four times faster than the market last year. It collaborates with major industrial players, including globally recognized technology and infrastructure providers. The company continues its growth in 2024, with planned investments in its North American operations.
As part of this next growth phase, our client is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (m/f/d) in Munich to join the leadership team and drive financial management as a cornerstone for scaling operations and ensuring long-term success.
About the Role
As the Chief Finance Officer, you will drive the financial strategy and operational execution of the business. You will oversee the usual variety of topics related to finance & accounting and investor relations. As a key senior executive in the management team, you will play a crucial part in shaping the company’s growth trajectory. What might stand out will be the element of Finance Innovation which will entail close collaboration with the Sales as well as Product Development teams.
In more detail, the role encompasses the following key responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis
* Oversee the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for the organization
* Optimize the company’s working capital to ensure liquidity, operational efficiency, and financial flexibility
* Lead the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses to provide insights to the management team
* Act as a sparring partner to the CEO and senior management team with regards to the financial steering of the company
* Structure & lead operational financial activities of the company (accounting, financial controlling, tax) and act as a single point of contact for external stakeholders and service providers
Fundraising & Investor Relations
* Lead the company's fundraising efforts in tandem with the CEO, from developing financial strategies to executing Series B+ funding rounds, ensuring the company is well-capitalized to achieve its growth objectives
* Collaborate with the CEO and Board to align the capital strategy with long-term business goals and financial sustainability
* Build and maintain relationships with potential investors and strategic partners
* Oversee investor relations by preparing monthly and quarterly reports, managing data room readiness, and guiding finance discussions in Board meetings
Finance Innovation
* Support sales and business development activities to achieve sustainable financial growth on a company level
* Support product development and innovation activities with skills and ideas
* Drive business and finance innovation for infrastructure financing, insurance solutions and performance contracting solutions
Controlling & Reporting
* Play a key role in setting up and iterating the company’s monthly management reporting
* Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop, monitor, and maintain financial and operational KPIs
* Act as a finance business partner to individual business units
Accounting & Others
* Lead and develop the accounting team to manage day-to-day financial transactions, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and compliance
* Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and tools to support the company’s rapid growth
* Oversee all legal activities including negotiating financial terms and conditions in framework contracts with corporates
About You
You are a great match for what we are looking for if you bring with you the following skills and experience:
* Your background in finance is robust and you have a proven track record (10+ years) in leadership roles, ideally within startups or high-growth environments (Series A+)
* You possess exceptional analytical and financial modelling skills, combined with strong business acumen and sound decision-making abilities
* You excel at managing and effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders fostering alignment and engagement across all levels
* You have substantial expertise in high-stakes negotiations, particularly involving corporate contracts, financing agreements and strategic partnerships, with a solid grasp of reviewing contract terms and conditions
* You hold an advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Business, or possess comparable qualifications
* You are fully proficient in English and German
* Experience in fundraising is a plus
* Residing in Munich is preferred, as regular onsite participation is essential for this role
* You are a high-drive, results-oriented professional with a strong sense of ownership, capable of balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution
* You thrive on innovative thinking, actively contributing to the continued growth and professionalization of the organization
