Role flexible on the location out of the approved locations for Healthcare Executives (Germany, Switzerland, UK, France, US, China, India, Singapore)
Your role: Reporting to the Head of Sourcing Healthcare, the Category Lead for Marketing & Sales is responsible for the category management and strategic sourcing activities related to agencies, business intelligence, conventions media, and promotional materials.
In addition to the category management and strategic sourcing, you will build and maintain excellent relationships with suppliers to optimally support our business. You will serve as a key partner to the Healthcare businesses, interfacing with stakeholders across the organization to understand challenges and develop solutions that support growth within the demanding Healthcare industry.
The position is crucial for ensuring the external supply of services to the Marketing, Commercial, R&D, and Communication teams, with predominant spend allocation in the Healthcare sector yet also covering Group Functions and the Life Science and Electronics sectors.
Key Accountabilities
1. Leading the 450 million EUR global category of spend covering a diverse portfolio of subcategories across Marketing & Sales.
2. Acting as a key business partner to Marketing, Medical, Commercial, and Communication teams, building solid relationships with stakeholders across the value chain to fully understand their business strategies, challenges, needs, and requirements.
3. Nurturing and strengthening relationships with key strategic partners to build a competitive advantage for the company and ensure access to innovation.
4. Providing a holistic procurement approach and developing sound commercial strategies for Marketing, Medical, and Communication Services to increase the impact for the business.
5. Ensuring intentional and purposeful allocation of company spend by developing and orchestrating the ecosystem with external partners and suppliers that share our ambition and values around environmental sustainability, human rights, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
6. Aligning and providing strategic guidance to a global team of Sourcing Managers in the development and execution of sourcing projects relevant to your areas of spend.
7. Providing the business with market trends, the competitive landscape, and dynamics around the supply markets enabling the development of sound procurement strategies and execution plans.
8. Guiding and influencing regional and global supply strategies in collaboration with multi-functional teams and coordinating the development and execution of these strategies.
9. Coaching stakeholders and peers to gain important insights leveraging intelligence and procurement analytics with the aim to further elevate our insight-based decision making.
10. Actively managing the overall risk within the category and developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
11. Being a key member of the Healthcare Procurement Leadership Team and contributing to the development of the Healthcare Procurement Strategy and leading its realization within your respective category.
12. Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and sourcing experience throughout your category by leveraging technology and driving automation.
13. Coaching, performance managing, and identifying development opportunities for direct reports, ensuring appropriate succession planning and creation of a strong development culture.
Who you are
1. Minimum bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a Science-related field; MBA or equivalent is highly desirable.
2. At least 10 years of experience in a global work environment in sourcing, purchasing, sales, or commercially oriented functions.
3. Strategic thinker with a cost-sensitive approach and a proven capability in managing complex negotiations and strong negotiation skills.
4. Experience dealing with vendors and stakeholders in a multi-matrix environment.
5. Proven track record of building effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and regarded as a trusted business partner.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.
7. Self-starter with a high degree of self-reliance; must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
8. Collaborative team player committed to sharing and advancing best practices with a strong ability to inspire, influence, and lead through others.
9. Willingness to travel as needed and flexible in terms of working hours to accommodate the global nature of the role.
