The Federal Chancellery is seeking to fill a permanent position in Division 114 "Information and Communication Technology" at its Berlin office.

The Federal Chancellery provides comprehensive support to the Federal Chancellor in his tasks and coordinates the work within the Federal Government. Division 114 is responsible for the secure operation and continuous development of information and communication technology. To this end, we operate our own systems and work closely with external service providers from the federal administration and the private sector.
To further develop our digital infrastructure, we are looking for you to join our network/infrastructure team.
What you can expect from us:
* Planning, implementation and further development of the new convergent network with a focus on IPv6-first strategies and migration scenarios from IPv4 to IPv6
* Design and optimization of the network architecture, taking into account IPv6-specific security, performance and scaling aspects
* Development and implementation of Software Defined Networking (SDN) for the efficient control and automation of IPv6 networks
* Design and support of network service transitions with a focus on IPv6 interoperability, dual-stack operation and transition technologies
* Ensuring the operation, high availability and security of IPv6-capable information and communication technology
* Participation in the on-call service to ensure the stable operation of our infrastructure
* Collaboration with internal and external partners to develop, test and deploy innovative IPv6 solutions
What you bring to the table:
* Successfully completed studies (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the field of (business) computer science, communications engineering or another relevant field of study or comparable experience and skills in the form of several years of proven, relevant professional experience with relevant training certificates and comprehensive knowledge of the technologies used in the field of activity
* In-depth knowledge of enterprise networks and SDN technologies with a particular focus on IPv6
* hands-on experience with network analysis techniques and tools to verify IPv6 connectivity, security and performance
* In-depth understanding of IPv6 addressing, network segmentation, routing protocols (e.g. OSPFv3, MP-BGP) and IPv6-specific mechanisms such as SLAAC, DHCPv6 and Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP)
* Experience with IPv6 migration strategies and transition technologies (e.g. dual stack, NAT64, 464 XLAT, MAP-T)
* German language skills (business fluent - level C1) as well as good English language skills (level B1) - (indication of competence level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) are essential
* Analytical thinking and planning skills
* Strong teamwork skills, social skills and a sense of responsibility
* absolute discretion and willingness to cooperate in an extended security check with security investigations in accordance with Section 10 of the Security Check Act

If the personal requirements are met, the tasks to be performed allow for classification up to pay group 12 TVöD. The level classification is based on your professional experience and previous career.
We can therefore offer you an annual salary of up to 86,700 euros (incl. ministerial allowance). Depending on the applicant situation, the payment of an additional temporary specialist allowance of up to 1,000 euros per month is possible for tariff employees. If the personal requirements are met, an appointment as a civil servant can be made at a later date.
If you are already employed in the civil service or are a civil servant (up to grade A 13 g, without official allowance), we will seek a secondment/assignment with the aim of transferring you or taking you on.
The Federal Chancellery pays an allowance of 275 euros for work at the highest federal authorities (so-called "ministerial allowance"). In addition, tariff employees receive a company pension through the Federal and State Pension Institution.
We offer a good "work-life balance" with flexible working hours and the option to work from home if the circumstances allow, as well as 30 days' vacation per calendar year. In addition, we can grant you up to 18 days of compensatory time off within a year if you have sufficient time credits.
