SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, performs receiving, in-process, and final inspection and testing of incoming parts, first articles, work-in-process and finished goods; maintains quality control records and reports. Is an active participant in the identification, resolution, and root cause analysis of defects. Supports logging of internal NCRs and maintenance of calibration system.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Interacts with production and engineering departments to communicate changes in materials, blueprints, and dimensional changes in prints that affect incoming & manufactured parts.
2. Prepares and submits quality documentation for manufacturing areas, including NCRs, daily VM boards,first article reports and inspection documentation.
3. Maintains and monitors quality control records and production reports from the manufacturing areas.
4. Conducts thorough 1st article inspections on manufactured and vendor supplied parts.
5. Conducts regular inspection rounds on machines and assembly lines, ensuring that manufacturing and assembly processes are being adhered to.
6. Provides ongoing support of the calibration system, completing calibration log, calibrating manufacturing measuring items and removing from service non-conforming items.
7. Understands all aspects of the Receiving system and controls the goods brought into the area. Uses all the relevant inspection tools and sampling techniques to monitor the quality of the products being submitted.
8. Understands the key elements of ISO 9001 and the requirements of the QA department to adhere to the standard.
9. Notify supervisor or others, as appropriate, of inspection failures and/or of tolerances/ specifications situations.
10. Actively supports Pelican’s commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
11. Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance with the job.
12. Performs additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
12. Experience using measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, inside/outside micrometers, verniers, pin gauges, height gauges, radius gauges, protractors and dial indicators.
13. Knowledge of inspection sampling methods an advantage.
14. Experience in reading blue prints, determining standards/tolerances and relating drawings of parts to the actual parts.
15. Must have very good verbal, written, presentation skills and basic math skills.
16. Ability to work under minimal supervision.
17. Previous experience of problem solving and root cause analysis an advantage.
18. Basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
19. Experience of SAP an advantage
