Hauptaufgaben
POSITION DUTIES:
Serve as a Dental Assistant (Zahnmedizinische Fachangestellte), assisting with examinations and treatments and, depending on their qualifications, take on extended tasks in areas such as prophylaxis, prosthetic and orthodontic assistance. On the instructions and direction of the dentist, they prepare fillings or impression masses for dental impressions, places matrices to normal and abnormal teeth; places, condenses, carves, finishes and polishes amalgam restoration, and take X-rays (intra- and extra-oral radiographs). Performs oral prophylaxis on ambulatory
patients. Performs deep subgingival scaling, root planning, and curettage under local anesthesia. Assists in surgical treatment by applying and removing periodontal and post-extraction dressings and removing sutures. Applies desensitizing agents, tissue conditioners and other topical agents prescribed by dentist to specified areas of the oral cavity. Retracts gingiva from tooth for final impressions by placing and removing retraction cord. Places, compresses and finishes synthetic restorations including multi-surfaced anterior restorations; places and contours temporary
restorations Instructs patients at chair-side in, oral hygiene, brushing and flossing techniques, and periodontal aids which increase the amount of stimulation to the teeth.
The position serves as a Dental Assistant (Zahnmedizinische Fachangestellte), with responsibilities to organize the operation of the practice by planning treatment appointments and internal processes and ensuring the usability of rooms, equipment and instruments. Document
patient treatment processes and record services provided for medical records. Dental assistants look after patients before, during and after treatment. Plans and adapts instructions in home care techniques, tailoring them to the oral hygiene needs and oral problems of individual patients.
Explains to patients the causes of periodontal disease and tooth decay and the importance of diet as it relates to oral and systemic health. Handle correspondence with health insurance companies and laboratories, check incoming payments and manage the company dunning process.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifikationsanforderungen
K-5:
Dental Assistant with completed vocational training and 1 year of experience performing the full range of duties required in the field of dental health services including preventive therapy, or performing specialty dental assistance.

English AND German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.

* Experience with the use of common software and computer systems, carrying out routine office work (=Office Automation) is required.
Beschäftigungsbedingungen
This is a temporary full-time position (38.5 hrs./week), NTE one year, until return of permanent incumbent.
*Relocation expenses are not authorized.
THIS CONCERNS ALL EXTERNAL APPLICANTS:
* Generally, you must have been a resident in Germany for at least 12 months. Non-U.S. citizen family members and German citizens are exempt from this requirement.
* Your permanent residence must be within Germany.
* Police Good Conduct Certificate (Polizeiliches Führungszeugnis): On initial appointment, or re-appointment after a break in service, candidates who have been selected for a position must present a police good-conduct certificate prior to appointment to the position. The applicant must obtain the certificate from the local resident registration office. The cost for the certificate is not reimbursable. Non-U.S. citizen family members, except German citizens are exempt from this requirement.
* Upon appointment with the U.S. Forces it is required to present two valid Picture IDs to get access to the Computer Systems. Recognized documents are only: Personal ID Personalausweis (Personalausweis), Personal Travel ID (Reisepass) and the EU Driver's License (plastic card format). We recommend ensuring at the time of application that at least two of these documents are available or requested.
* Foreign National Screening (Sicherheitsüberprüfung): In accordance with U.S. Army Europe Regulation 604-1, within three days after appointment, a background check will be initiated to determine suitability for continued employment with the U. S. Forces in Germany. If results are unacceptable, employment will be terminated during the probationary period, or any time thereafter, if the background checks reveal that the employee constitutes a security risk.
