Miniclipis looking for a to oversee the financial operations, reporting and controlling functions for one of it's newest studio acquisitions, Lessmore.
Lessmore is a vibrant new mobile games studio that operates fully remotely across Europe with an ambitious growth plan having recently been acquired by Miniclip.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a global leader in digital games and entertainment within the Miniclip group, with a mission of ‘unleashing the gamer in everyone’. Miniclip develops, publishes and distributes over 60 games, which reach over 400 million players each month across the world.
ROLE
The Finance Manager takes over and leads the finance functions at Lessmore. The ideal candidate truly shapes the financial processes and controls of the company hands-on from the ground up. This role is critical to the ongoing management and growth of the studio; and provides the opportunity to bring real finance process improvement and insights into its business performance.
The role is based fully remotely from most EU countries, as well as the UK (right to work and residency required).
Reporting to Lessmore’s Head of Operations and working alongside the Miniclip Group CFO and finance teams, the Finance Manager is accountable for German GAAP (HGB) Statutory accounting support and IFRS group reporting, yearly budgeting and forecasting, general finance operations, internal Management Accounts ownership,
controlling and governance - as follows:
1. STATUTORY (GERMAN GAAP) AND IFRS REPORTING
1. Lead the relationship with the external accounting firm, Statutory auditors, financial institutions (such as the German Finanzamt, or UK HMRC) and Miniclip’s accounting and control teams.
2. Assess the current processes and support with the statutory German GAAP accounting and year end procedures, potentially taking over multiple functions from the existing external accounting firm. This may include tax filings in multiple jurisdictions as appropriate.
3. Establish a first-time process to timely and accurate prepare the monthly IFRS management reporting to Miniclip. Manage the IFRS technical accounting for complex items and the group’s accounting policies and judgements.
4. Manage Lessmore’s liquidity position and concentration risk, adhering to Miniclip group treasury policies.
2. PORTFOLIO FINANCIAL BUDGET AND FORECASTING
5. Lead the annual budgeting and periodic reforecast process.
6. Manage operating and capital expenditure and understand revenue and profitability data and trends.
7. Identify and support actioning revenue opportunities based on the financial data set at hand.
8. Provide guidance and insight into Lessmore’s financial performance and position, business partnering with the leadership team and Miniclip to drive value and growth throughout the business.
3. FINANCE OPERATIONS
9. Together with the Miniclip shared service centre, develop an in-house finance process to ensure smooth finance operations and a strong control environment around the purchase-to-pay process, to support the growth of Lessmore in abcontrolled and cost-efficient manner.
10. Ensure timely supplier payments for expenditure and timely cash collection for revenue transactions is achieved.
11. Provide adequate financial information to external stakeholders, including banks and suppliers.
4. GOVERNANCE & FINANCIAL CONTROL
12. Be accountable for the appropriateness of Lessmore’s governance and the internal control environment.
13. Develop a risk assessment approach for Lessmore to identify the principal risks of the organisation and implement adequate remediation controls.
14. Together with the Miniclip finance team, identify and implement an adequate finance system to support the future growth of Lessmore.
15. Manage relationships with key external stakeholders in the finance sector, including financial authorities, auditors and external accountants, as well as the relevant local municipality.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
In addition to the requirements of the role detailed above, the successful candidate
will be able to demonstrate:
16. Qualified accountant (preferably qualified in a professional services firm as an auditor or similar) with at-least 5 years’ of working in a senior finance role
17. Excellent understanding of German GAAP (HGB) and statutory requirements, including tax management and Federal Bank reportings
18. A hands-on problem solver, able to build new processes and constantly adapt the finance function to remain relevant to needs of the fast-growing studio
19. High level of ownership and ability to work fully independently
20. Excellent analytical and numerical skillset, in-depth Excel knowledge a plus
21. Native German language (or C2), written and spoken, including German GAAP (HGB) terminologies
22. Fluent in English written and spoken (company primary language is English)
23. Previous experience in a gaming or tech company preferred

Founded in March 2021, Lessmore is a mobile gaming studio founded in Germany, focused on hybrid casual games. The Studio currently has three active titles, two of which, Eatventure and We Are Warriors!, have fast become leaders in their respective ‘idle’ and ‘real-time strategy’ genres and generate combined monthly downloads of 3.5million.
The Studio is fully remote and has a team of 33 professionals located across Europe. They meet together on a regular basis.
