Description Summary: Yorktown Systems Group, Inc. (YSG) is seeking a qualified Human Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) located in Bydgoszcz, Poland to conduct pre-deployment training activities for current theatres of operations and other exercises and training events (TEs) as assigned by NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT). Human Security Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides expertise to develop, manage, and execute the critical role of Human Security within NATO exercises and wargaming to portray the civil environment including humanitarian and civilian dilemmas facing the NATO Alliance. The JFTC Grey Cell in cooperation with SHAPE J9 coordinates inclusion of non-military actors such as humanitarian organizations and government agencies into NATO exercises and wargaming to realistically represent the physical and cognitive dimensions (as outlined in the NATO approved Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) Concept) that will challenge NATO forces. Outside of exercises and wargames the Human Security SME will be the primary representative for all Human Security and Gender related requirements for the JFTC Commander. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: Be responsible for facilitating the continued development of all aspects of Grey Cell training delivery in accordance with the training requirements and the Commander’s intent. Be responsible for facilitating the integration of Grey Cell (Human Security / Gender Perspective) concept development and experiments into training and wargaming in cooperation with the Training Execution Enablement Division. Be responsible for developing, planning, preparing, and executing Grey Cell activities in support of MDO wargaming and operational HQ’s training. Be responsible for the coordination with relevant NATO, national entities and agencies, and non-military actors to ensure efficient and effective training and wargaming. Be responsible for cross-staff coordination and support on all aspects related to Human Security to include gender perspective in exercises, wargaming, and training including support to training needs analysis. Represent JFTC Grey Cell related equities during all relevant seminars, conferences, and events, as required. Be responsible for including all Human Security equities (including gender perspective in military operations) in emerging NATO Multi-Domain Operations products, wargames, and exercises being developed, conducted, or supported by JFTC. Serve as the Human Security Focal Point for JFTC by maintaining awareness on current NATO Human Security developments and political challenges for inclusion into the civil picture of exercises and wargaming. Support the JFTC Gender Focal Point and coordinates with the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations for involvement in all exercises, wargames, and training. Requirements Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Human Security or a minimum of five years experience in NATO Human Security to include working with the Humanitarian Community and knowledge of Civil Military Cooperation and demonstrated experience in the past three years in NATO exercises. Demonstrate recent experience in the field of NATO Human Security (past three years) with the ability to work within a multi-national, multi-cultural environment. Experience in developing and maintaining networks to support JFTC training on Human Security cross cutting themes and incorporating gender perspective in exercises and wargaming. Must have experience (past three years) on the five NATO cross cutting themes and the NATO gender initiatives of: Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Children and Armed Conflict, Conflict Related Sexual Violence, Protection of Civilians, Protecting Cultural Property; Women, Peace, and Security; and with liaison activities to military forces to include as a member of the Exercise Control for NATO or equivalent UN exercises. Experience working with or for Humanitarian organizations and / or working as a liaison to the military on behalf of Humanitarian Organizations. Native English language speaker or individual presenting very good command of spoken and written English, with a proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing at the level of (SLP) NATO STANAG 6001 - 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing). Clearance: Must possess an active NATO or U.S. SECRET security clearance.
