Hauptaufgaben On a daily basis, receives change fund and operates a cash register scanning system, which records unit prices in proper amounts and accounts (i.e., grocery, meat, produce, and other selective items). Individually inputs item codes and/or prices when items do not properly scan. Totals purchases and collects, validates, and processes payment including cash, checks, debit and credit card transactions, electronic benefits transfer transactions, and coupons. Makes correct change and/or provides cash back to the customer depending on the nature of the payment transaction. Responds courteously to patron questions concerning order processing and item costs. At the end of the shift, turns in cash and negotiable instruments in accordance with store policy. May be required to count cash and negotiable instruments and to prepare an accountability report. Change register tape, clear routine equipment and scanning jams on registers, including Self Check Out (SCO). Bags items, hands out flyers and/or coupons and assists patrons in the correct processing of their orders. As assigned, manages the self check out registers assisting customers in the correct processing of their purchases. Provides instructions on proper operation of the equipment and resolves problems, which may occur. Applies a knowledge of specific items, their cost and/or scanning code to advise patrons on correct input procedures. Manages change machines ensuring the proper amounts of cash and coins are available. Based on store policy, and prior to purchase, may be required to check identification card of patron to ensure he/she is an authorized user. May be required to perform some or all of the following duties on an as needed basis: Performs regular sales store checker duties at a temporary duty location in support of off-site sales. Operates wireless cash registers for case lot sales. Responds to questions and/or issues raised by customers using a knowledge of the specific commissary store and established procedures. Seeks management assistance in situations, which are not routine. Ensures prices on shelf labels agree with and reflect current prices in commissary price lookup file and shelf label file. Verifies prices of items stocked by vendors and commissary personnel. Places tags on plastic and hangs tags on shelf, making sure to match item correctly; pulls old tags. May perform light typing duties, filing and other clerical work which assists in the timely mailing of reports, receipts, deposits, etc. May, on occasion, perform teller duties, face and front merchandise, perform NIS counts, queue check out lines, return merchandise to proper location, and clean up minor spills.
