The Mechanical Supervisor will oversee the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems and services within mission-critical environments. This includes HVAC systems, cooling towers, air handling units (AHUs), pumps, piping, and other mechanical infrastructure essential to high-performance, 24/7 operational facilities. The role requires hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of critical systems in high-stakes environments such as data centres, telecom facilities, and other mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Leadership:
* Lead and manage a team of mechanical technicians, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure the smooth installation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
* Provide on-site leadership and guidance, ensuring that all work is completed in compliance with safety standards, specifications, and project timelines.
* Ensure that all work is carried out according to the project requirements and quality standards.
1. HVAC Systems:
* Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems including chillers, cooling coils, and variable air volume (VAV) systems.
* Manage the commissioning and testing of HVAC systems to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
* Ensure the systems meet the cooling and environmental requirements specific to mission-critical facilities.
Cooling Towers:
* Supervise the installation, maintenance, and operation of cooling towers.
* Oversee system balancing, chemical treatment programs, and regular performance testing of cooling systems to ensure optimal performance.
Piping & Pumps:
* Supervise the installation and maintenance of mechanical piping, pumps, and associated equipment for chilled water, heating, and fire protection systems.
* Oversee the commissioning and performance testing of pumps and pipelines to ensure efficient operation.
System Integration & Troubleshooting:
* Ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with electrical systems to support the uninterrupted performance of mission-critical infrastructure.
* Troubleshoot mechanical system failures and coordinate with the team to implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
* Ensure all mechanical work is performed in compliance with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, H&S Act).
* Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
* Report and manage any safety incidents or near misses.
Quality Assurance & Documentation:
* Oversee the preparation of as-built drawings, test reports, and maintenance manuals.
* Ensure all mechanical systems are documented and the relevant certifications are issued upon system handover.
* Maintain accurate logs of mechanical system performance, maintenance activities, and incidents.
Communication & Reporting:
* Liaise with the project manager, design team, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
* Provide regular progress reports, highlighting any issues and solutions implemented.
* Support commissioning and client handover process, ensuring all systems are fully functional.
