We are currently recruiting an experienced finance director to join our client, a leading pharmaceutical company, in developing the finance function for Germany. The position will be based in Munich, offering the option of a hybrid work arrangement. We are looking for candidates with recent experience in the German pharmaceuticals or life sciences sector, with a strong background in FP&A and a solid foundation in accounting and controllership. This role presents a significant opportunity for an ambitious finance professional driven to contribute to establishing a country finance function while providing financial and strategic guidance to support the company’s growth and vision.
Financial Director Job Responsibilities:
* Develop the finance, FP&A, and administrative framework to support the business.
* Act as a finance business partner for the local executive and key contact for the region’s finance.
* Lead and manage the strategic planning process, including financial forecasts and budgets.
* Work with operations to develop and manage P&Ls and investigate variances.
* Prepare analysis and presentations for regional and corporate management.
* Review the plan to ensure management buy-in; provide guidelines, assumptions, and targets.
* Assist European Accounting in establishing US GAAP, statutory, and local reporting. Use third-party payroll and accounting service providers.
* Manage all audit reviews, including internal audits, US GAAP, local GAAP, and SOX.
* Assist with the procure-to-pay cycle and the integration of 3PLs, wholesalers, and other stakeholders within the supply chain.
* Participate in the development of accounting policies and operational strategies.
* Develop solutions and problem-solving skills to improve business effectiveness, system efficiencies, and business practices and undertake projects.
Profile:
* Mandatory recent experience in pharmaceuticals or life sciences within Germany.
* 10+ years’ relevant experience in finance.
* Proven financial planning, accounting, and reporting experience.
* Able to establish and build a finance function.
* Experience with third-party logistics, commercial finance, costing and pricing.
* Excellent technical, analytical, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
* Autonomous, persistent and results-oriented.
* Degree in finance or a related subject with expertise in Excel and SAP.
* Fluent in German; eligible to work in Germany.
