Modern, interconnected, conscious of tradition: Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) is the oldest and largest university in the State of Saxony-Anhalt with a history dating back more than 500 years. Today more than 20,000 students are enrolled at MLU.
The Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg is seeking to immediately fill several
PhD student positions
in immunology, biotechnology, pharmacology,
cell and molecular biology, biochemistry,
nutritional sciences, drug carrier systems,
and physics
to conduct translational research aiming at therapeutic strategies for age-associated diseases.
All positions will be part of a collaborative research project: Thera4Age project - Innovative therapeutic concepts for age-associated diseases - uses a translational approach to develop and preclinically test ther-apeutic strategies for several showcases of age-associated diseases. To this end, working groups from various scientific and medical disciplines are jointly exploring, e.g., new drug delivery systems/medical product candidates, testing diagnostic tools and evaluating promising molecular targets
Experimental research associated to specific tasks addressed by the Thera4Age consortium
Implementation of diverse and complex characterization techniques such as of material properties, cell functions, and target interaction
Data analysis, documentation, presentation of results to the consortium
Publications and patent applications
Further progression of project ideas, preparation of applications for third-party funding
Successfully completed university degree (MSc or equivalent) with excellent grades in a natural science such as in immunology, biotechnology, pharmacology, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, nutritional sciences, pharmaceutics, or physics
Comprehensive knowledge of relevant preparation and characterization techniques of the respective discipline
Willingness for interdisciplinary cooperative work in the laboratories of different working groups
