Position Overview:
This position provides Mission Command System (MCS) System Administrators/Network Communication Specialists to the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) Operations Group (OPSGRP) located at Hohenfels, Germany. JMRC’s mission is to train Multinational Interoperability to US, NATO, and partner nation forces up to the Brigade level in an extended Live, Virtual, and Constructive Decisive Action Training Environment. JMRC supports the US Army Europe theater security cooperation plan through planning and participation in NATO and U.S. Army Europe exercise programs.
The Mission Command System (MCS) System Administrator/Network Communication Specialist is an MCS Subject Matter Expert (SME) and supporting member of the JMRC. MCS System Administrators/Network Communication Specialists work in support of JMRC rotations/exercises includes planning, installing, configuring, keying, testing, integrating, maintaining, and executing support to configure and operate network servers, switches, routers, and firewalls to support MCS including, but not limited to: Command Post Computing Environment (CPCE), Command Post of the Future (CPOF), Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS), Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS), Air and Missile Defense Workstation (AMDWS), Tactical Air Integration System (TAIS), Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI), Blue Force Tracking (BFT), Global Command and Control System-Army (GCCS-A), Multilateral Interoperability Programme (MIP), and associated servers on the Battle Command Common Services (BCCS) or Tactical Services Infrastructure (TSI) Stacks.
List of Proposed Duties:
1. Install, operate, and maintain all network communication systems, both firmware and hardware, including enterprise servers providing Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)/Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL), File Shares, and VMware vSphere.
2. Install network cabling, cable management, hard drive imaging, Active Directory administration, software troubleshooting, identification of faulty equipment, and network troubleshooting.
3. Install, operate, and maintain all government provided encryption devices, coordinate Communications Security (COMSEC) keying with COMSEC account holders to include processing all accounting and destruction paperwork.
4. Test and troubleshoot complex defense communication systems consisting of inter-connected routers, switches, U.S. classified and No Foreign National (NOFORN) COMSEC equipment, modems, transceivers, and dense wave division multiplexers.
5. Install, integrate, and make fully operational the assembled and tested defense communication racks of equipment into existing US Army Europe – Africa defense and intelligence communication subsystems.
6. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and diagnostics on all related equipment.
7. Manage and maintain all fiber optic transmission systems. Validate their functionality with monthly tests.
8. Deploys to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations.
9. Perform initial installation and quality assurance to U.S. Government standard of multi-level U.S. classified voice and data information systems.
Required Education and Experience:
10. A bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience, OR;
11. An associate’s degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR;
12. A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR;
13. 11 years of recent specialized experience
14. Must possess a current CompTIA Security+ certification.
15. Must possess an active SECRET clearance.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
16. Mastery of at least one Mission Command System.
17. Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience as a system or network administrator, or equivalent.
18. Proficient in Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
19. Ability to work extended hours on consecutive days/nights in support of exercise preparation, execution, helpdesk operations, end of event evaluation and close-out.
Other Requirements: Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship status with the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance. Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.
