Overview:
The Medical Scientist is responsible for continuously advancing the knowledge about PAION’s compounds within the medical / scientific community and provides medical input to ensure the execution of the medical and clinical development strategies in regard to a specific compound.
The role requires broad scientific and therapeutic area expertise in Infectious Diseases and/or Intensive Care and clear business understanding to identify and address the relevant medical needs of patients, HCPs and other stakeholders. Based on a solid knowledge about PAION’s therapeutic areas, this professional is versed in various communication platforms, such as peer-reviewed publications, Advisory Boards, individual communication to KOLs and investigators.
The Medical Scientist as part of the Medical Team is expected to provide in-depth scientific, clinical and educational support to the medical community, and when needed to internal groups, such as the clinical, marketing and commercial teams, partners and licensees.
Your tasks & responsibilities:
* Developing and maintaining long-term professional relationships with investigators, medical specialists and healthcare professionals. Utilizing superior therapy area and product knowledge to engage with HCPs through non-promotional evidence based scientific dialogue and presentations. Discussing scientific research concepts and ideas with investigators
* Collaborating with colleagues to actively support meetings by collecting and interpreting insights, competitive intelligence, presentations as well as results. Maintaining close cross-functional working with clinical trial teams, medical colleagues along with Sales and Marketing
* Providing medical support as part of a cross-functional team to relevant clinical development studies including: feasibility and quality research site recommendations, TA/product training for site staff, medical educational activities to support patient recruitment, strategic support for priority trials and dissemination of study results
* Administering medical support to the Brand team including Identification of HCPs and Advisory boards
* Acting as a field-based reference point for non-promotional scientific and clinical expertise to field force
* Identifying and tracking potential research opportunities aligned with Paion’s development objectives through facilitating Investigator initiated trials and other research
* Implementing as well as supporting scientific projects according to corporate global strategies including registries, epidemiology projects or preclinical research
* Ensuring that prevailing legislation, GCP, the Ethical Committee, SOP and Medical Compliance requirements are fulfilled.
Your profile
* MD or equivalent, preferably with experience within Intensive Care / Infectious diseases.
* Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical experience internationally in Clinical Development and/or Medical Affairs and a thorough understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
* The ability to understand, process, communicate and present scientific information to a high standard
* Precise expressiveness, excellent medical writing skills
* Demonstrative external customer focus with strong networking capabilities and integration with KOLs
* Excellent influencing, networking, presentation and communication skills as well as a proven track record of cross-functional team working
* Capability to project-manage multiple projects and adapt priorities according to business along with strategic needs
* Capacity to maintain the highest ethical standards, with a working knowledge of relevant clinical regulations and industry standards including Good Clinical Research Practice.
* Fluency in English; ideally, proficiency in German or Dutch.
