Job Description
The Mechanics and Simulation Development Department is responsible for the development of Finite Element based tire simulation processes and methods including visualization and analysis tools to provide complete solutions for understanding and optimization of the product.
For this area at our location in Hannover-Stöcken we are looking for a master student for an internship of 6 months starting as soon as possible, with the option to write the coupled master’s thesis later on. The activity takes place most of the time onsite.
Your tasks:
1. Developing a new computational tool based on the state-of-the-art coupling between the Material Point Method (MPM) and the Finite Element Method (FEM)
2. Validating and calibrating the developed procedure in reference to the existing methods
3. Applying the developed tool to a simplified tire mold like application
Qualifications
4. Students in the field of mechanical engineering, informatics or similar
5. Ideally having a deep knowledge of mechanics, FEM and proper programming skills
6. Knowledge of C++, Matlab and Python programming
7. Preferably having knowledge about MPM, open-source FEM codes
8. Fluent English language skills (written and spoken)
9. Team spirit
