The Medical Faculty Mannheim of the University Heidelberg is looking for the Department of Cardiovascular Physiology as of 01.01.2025, initially for a limited period of 2 years, for a Biology / Bioscience doctoral (PhD) student (f/m/d) In the Department of Cardiovascular Physiology, we investigate the molecular basis of cardiovascular diseases (e.g. heart failure) and train scientists and students.
Investigation of the communication between endothelial cells and heart muscle cells in CRC1366
Identification of new coding and non-coding RNA as potential, future therapeutic starting points
Analysis of mouse models of human diseases with animal experiments
Cell culture of heart muscle and endothelial cells, protein biochemical working methods (immunostaining, Western blots, IPs)
Molecular biology work: DNA cloning, qPCR, transcriptome analyses, OMICs, bioinformatic analyses
Completed studies in biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine or comparable courses of study
FELASA certificate (an advantage, but not a prerequisite) and experience with animal experimentations
Sound knowledge and practical experience of molecular, cell and biochemistry working methods
Good English and computer skills, previous experience with the programming language “R” is an advantage
