Summary This position is located at the Outdoor Recreation Center in Ansbach. Responsibilities Plans, schedules, organizes and implements outdoor activities. Activities include but are not limited to cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, skeet shooting, parks, ranges, mountain climbing and overnight recreational trips. Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment. Coordinates with installation, county, and state officials on programs and information related to outdoor recreation and required licenses. Researches, plans and develops or enlarges outdoor recreation areas. Prepares standard operating procedures. May assist in the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and 5- year plan. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Three (3) years of general recreation experience OR a combination of experience and education that provided the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups. Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience. Highly Preferred criteria: Ability to attend the training and obtain a Class 3 license D or DE (14-50 passenger bus) to drive vehicles and vehicles with trailers. Possess certifications or experience leading groups in outdoor recreation activities such as climbing, caving, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, archery, paintball, cycling, bicycle maintenance, navigating and camping. Experience in group management and risk management in outdoor environment will be considered as a highly scored skill in the interview process. Must be able to demonstrate strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills. One (1) year or more prior work experience creating, developing and conducting outdoor recreational adventure programming for Soldiers, family members and other FMWR patrons.
