Job Description The Oracle Frankfurt, Germany office is hiring Data Centre Technicians, Senior Data Centre Technicians/Leads and Data Centre Managers. Our Data Centre Technicians are the liaison between the technology teams and the Data Centre Environment. We are looking for people who can troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues, understanding which issues to escalate to the appropriate resolver groups. Our Datacenter Technicians create and maintain documentation on technologies and support. Know how to innovate and make decisions on their own, but also know how to take directions when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. The Data Centre Leads and Managers will be expected to improve current processes and introduce automation with an aim towards simplification and may execute small projects on their own, working with their direct managers in planning and executing larger local projects. This position involves working on a 24/7 shift rotation system 365 days per year. Employment for all candidates is contingent upon satisfactory background checks. Requirements: - Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems OR equivalent work experience is desired but not necessary to apply for the position - Data Centre Technician IC1: Recent graduates are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate interest and knowledge in the position and a willingness to learn on the job - gap year students also considered. Excellent communication skills (oral & written) and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of customers and staff. High service-oriented, reliable, responsible, self-motivated - Data Centre Technicians IC2, IC3: Min 2-5 years of experience in IT Infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200-1000 server systems), in data centre M&E equipment, System administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers - especially command line based). Hardware repair, diagnosis and break/fix. Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting). IT Hardware Concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO). Base Operations System Installs and Configuration. Core OS Services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, Serial communication etc. - Data Centre Technicians IC4: 4-8 years of experience in IT Infrastructure support and server Administration in a mid-sized environment (200-1000 server systems), supporting and troubleshooting distributed, N-Tier applications, software, and operating systems. Strong leadership experience. Experience working in a mission-critical operations environment. Thorough understanding of data center design, including electrical and cooling plant and operation thereof. Airflow management (hot aisle, cold aisle, containment etc.). Rack and stack equipment including commissioning of new racks. Strong structured cabling skills on fiber and copper (e.g. looming, term & test). Systems and administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers - especially command line based). Hardware repair, diagnosis and break/fix. Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, basic troubleshooting). IT Hardware Concepts (RAID, SAN, x86 architecture, SCSI, FC, ethernet, iLO). Base Operations System Installs and Configuration. Core OS Services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, Serial communication etc. - Data Centre Manager: 5 years of experience managing teams, including line management, appraisals, performance reviews, hiring new team members, etc. 3 years' experience in IT infrastructure support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200-1000 server systems). 3 years' experience supporting and troubleshooting distributed, N-Tier applications, software, and operating systems. Demonstrated examples of process improvement execution. Demonstrated examples of a drive to dig into the details of a system or process to solve customer problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong influencing skills. Open to providing after-hours support as needed. Experience in supporting large, Enterprise customers in an operations environment. Ability to work independently, with little direct management. Demonstrate understanding of Change Management. All positions have a physical component requiring the ability to lift to 25Kg and may require working in cramped spaces or elevated locations. Career Level - IC2 Responsibilities Data Centre IC1, IC2, IC3: Act as data centre SME liaison to other technical and non-technical teams (e.g. networking, computing, compliance, business operations). Understand internal customer problems and provide technical solutions in timely manner. Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware, software. System board level repair and fault diagnosis to SLA's. Planning and commissioning new rack positions. Involvement with the design and commissioning of new whitespaces. Structured cabling installation is a significant part of this position. Training and adherence to governmental and company-set health and safety processes. Data Centre IC4: Act as technical liaison for our technical teams. Understand internal customer problems and provide technical solutions in a timely manner. Understand customer urgencies and sensitivity of problems. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all production server hardware and software. Provide 2nd level technical support for complex issues which may include leading problem management cases and providing status updates. Manage escalated support cases and lead appropriate internal technical resources and/or 3rd party vendors until resolution. Assist with server operating system and application upgrades, bug fixes, and patching. Working on standardization projects for both hardware and software under the Oracle technology stack, while providing consistent system uptime as expected in a IaaS environment. Advanced knowledge of network architecture and protocols. Experience with enterprise administrative scripting using major scripting languages (Powershell, Bash, Perl, etc.). Outstanding organizational skills, ability to prioritize effectively, and experience with technical project management. Experience providing client-facing, direct customer support and service. Data Centre Manager: Conduct regular performance check-ins with team members to ensure alignment with individual and organizational goals.Providing regular 121 meetings with team members to provide feedback, support, and career development guidance. Coaching, mentoring. Auding of data center spaces to ensure compliance with operational standards and identify areas for improvement. Effectively prioritize and delegate tasks to the team. Performance review of vendors and colocation providers. Change management and incident management. Single point of contacts for Escalations. Be available on-call to address urgent operational issues and emergencies as needed. Ensure Team meets OCI Service Level Agreements.
