Business Development Manager (BDM) Industry
My client is looking for a full-time BDM to join our European Team in the Nuremberg area, for
their Industry Sales Division, focusing on the German Industrial market.
Main tasks
1. Expand the existing business within defined Industry Accounts
2. Prospect actively for new business development opportunities with prospective / new customers.
Main responsibilities (but not limited to)
3. Establish sales target plans, midterm, yearly and monthly, by customer, by sales team
4. Develop a sales strategy and sales activities for the responsible target customers
5. Establish an action plan to achieve the target/s
6. Analyse results versus budget / target and initiate corrective action plan
7. Develop new business based on action plan
8. Develop and follow-up new and existing projects
9. Negotiate commercial contracts including all conditions pricing, payment terms, etc.)
10. Negotiate other (legal) documents such as NDA with customers and prospects
11. Support the Finance department in order to collect outstanding receivables
12. Support the Quality Control department in order communicate quickly and adequately in case of quality issues or other complaints
13. Support the Marketing team to collect necessary customer and market data
14. Train, support and work closely together with the Inside Sales team
15. Perform all necessary communication and correspondence with customers
16. Perform, whenever required, all necessary communication and correspondence with customers and other HRS offices outside the area of responsibility
17. Perform ongoing communication with Head-quarters
18. Coordinate “transfer” business outside the area of responsibility with the “transfer-in”-location
19. Prepare various reports, such as customer visit reports, monthly (sales) reports, 3 months rolling forecast and constant project updates
20. Report to the Industry Sales Manager on a regular base or whenever requested or necessary
Required Skills/Competencies
21. Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or similar / equivalent with preferably business management experience
22. Business Development for an Industry supplier or manufacturer for a minimum of 5 years
23. Or, minimum 5 years of experience in Business Development of connector and/or
electromechanical products
24. Significant experience in the Industry business
25. Strong capability for business planning, project management and forecast control
26. Ability to develop and arrange promotional tools and materials required for the business
27. Willingness to travel frequently within Germany and to the European Headquarter on a
frequent basis
28. Fluency in English and German and preferably additional European language
29. Technical knowledge: ability to fully understand the technical details
30. Traceable negotiation skills, be a self-starter, and a strong closer
31. Ability to manage complex and time intensive sales cycles
32. Leadership & coordination abilities of cross functional teams
33. Stress resiliency and structured personality
34. Pan-European and international orientation
