In collaboration with the TUM Chair of Turbomachinery and Flight Propulsion, GE would like to make a step change in how we execute traverses of aerodynamic probes. Today, we use single-axis linear slides with stepper motors. Going forward, we would like to leverage multi-axis robotic arms. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of integrating the new style of traverse in the TUM probe calibration wind tunnel. Most importantly, youu2019ll share in our pride and purpose that affects the lives of millions around the world Responsibilities Physically integrate a six-axis robotic arm in the probe calibration wind tunnel. Design probe holders to interface between the robotic arm and aerodynamic probe. Create software to control robot arm and execute volumetric traverse in the jet of the CalJet facility. Develop methodology for positioning of probe. Document test instrumentation and hardware inspections. Prepare and present detailed reports on findings and progress. Qualifications Students in disciplines such as Aerospace, Mechanical or Robotics Engineering (Bachelor 3rd year or Master preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with engineering tools such as CAD (e.g. Siemens NX, Solid Works), Matlab (critical), and/or Python. Experience with robotics. Ability to summarize complex technical information clearly and concisely. Effective independent and team working skills. Proactive mindset with a drive to tackle challenges and achieve results.
