Job Description
In July 2024, Delivery Hero SE merged three of its market-leading food delivery businesses, foodora and Yemeksepeti in Europe, and foodpanda in Asia. All three businesses now make up the second-largest organization within the Delivery Hero Group, and leading food and QCommerce delivery in 18 markets in both regions.
We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel - Product to ensure that our products meet global standards and are fit for purpose and aligned with business objectives without exposing us to unacceptable legal risks. This role is a unique opportunity to shape the legal foundation for product compliance across diverse markets and work at the intersection of technology, law, and business. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and local and functional legal experts, to support product compliance from inception to roll-out.
Key Responsibilities :
Product Compliance Oversight:
* Ensure compliance of assigned product domains/groups with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain and update catalogues of compliance rules relevant to product operations.
Product Design Alignment:
* Guide product design to align with compliance rules and ensure legal assessment as part of the Product Requirement Document (PRD).
* Align design systems with key compliance rules to support business objectives.
Compliance Project Leadership:
* Initiate and lead new product compliance projects to address emerging legal requirements.
* Identify and coordinate legal changes, such as updates to terms and conditions (T&Cs) and notices.
Legal Assessments:
* Conduct legal assessments of product changes, initiatives, and new services, in collaboration with local and topic-specialist counsels.
* Source and coordinate inputs from local, functional, and topic-specialist legal experts (e.g., privacy).
Roll-Out Planning:
* Develop and manage legal roll-out plans, identifying dependencies and timelines.
* Coordinate localisation needs, including legal resources (such as T&C or other contract template) changes and notifications.
* Design standardised legal resources and coordinate with regional and local counsels for implementation.
Risk Assessment:
* Identify the need for local and functional inputs to assess risks effectively.
* Ensure localisation requirements are addressed in coordination with local counsels.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
* Act as a liaison between product teams and legal experts to ensure comprehensive compliance coverage across all markets.
* Develop local roll-out plans for legal compliance in collaboration with relevant teams and stakeholders.
Requirements :
Experience and Expertise:
* Min 4 years of experience as an in-house counsel or in a law firm.
* Experience conducting product reviews and working with cross-functional product teams.
* Expertise in consumer laws, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
