The FCC Officer/Advisor (Director) for Merck Finck holds a key role in the compliance team responsible for ensuring that operations in Merck Finck are effective in identifying, managing and mitigating Financial Crime risks. They ensure timely advice is provided to the business and that the policies and procedures and the risk and control framework of the first line are continuously reviewed and challenged where and when required. This ensures that the business is taking mitigating actions to maintain a robust and stringent compliance risk management within the Group risk appetite and that escalation is made through appropriate governance channels when the business is not addressing critical issues.
Key Accountabilities
* Articulate Financial Crime risks for Merck Finck in line with Group Policies, and any local regulatory requirements not covered within Group Policy (documented through country addendum).
* Maintain an effective control framework and to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes and policies and good market practices, with primary focus on Merck Finck
* Drive and oversee FCC support of high risk clients files for the business.
* Ensure that senior management are appropriately advised of all material Compliance related matters.
* Oversee the critical Compliance policies and systems that impact Merck Finck and ensure that the Group’s exposure Financial Crime risks is managed in a commercially sensitive, practical and cost effective manner.
* Provide advisory services to Merck Finck business in order to ensure clear understanding of compliance risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions and products and work with the business on incorporating appropriate controls to mitigate those risks.
* Manage the relationship with relevant regulators on behalf of Merck Finck business.
* Manage and oversee second line governance covering Financial Crime risk exposures ensuring analysis and reporting is provided to Merck Finck local governance as well as Group governance committees. Ensure independence of the first line of defence, thereby maintaining an objective assessment of risk exposure.
* Support the business and Head of Compliance of Merck Finck, and other colleagues on all FCC related matters.
* Support the Head of Compliance of Merck Finck, in deploying strategic functional objectives and delivering critical services to the Group & country in an effective and-efficient manner.
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience as a regulator, or a compliance specialist across all areas of FCC risks within a global firm in the financial services industry.
* Detailed and extensive knowledge of the financial institution structure (Private Banking specific experience is an advantage).
* Ability to develop practical and optimized solutions to complex issues.

* A graduate in any discipline with exposure in a relevant risk or audit profile.
* Experience in establishing and maintaining risk and controls framework for ML/CTF, Sanctions, ABC, Fraud, tax evasion risks.
Languages Skills
* Proficient in both German and English required
* Knowledge of other Quintet languages is an advantage
