Position: Senior External Communication Specialist Location: Aachen Contract: Full-time, unlimited This position will join the Abiomed Corporate Communications EMEA department in Aachen. The individual will be responsible for managing the communication activities that Abiomed Europe GmbH conducts with external target groups. He or she will work closely with the US Corporate Communications team and report to the EMEA Manager [Sustainability and CSR]. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: - External Communication Strategy The external communication strategy involves the development and implementation of communication measures that align with corporate goals. This includes careful planning to define target groups, select appropriate channels, and craft effective messaging to reach these audiences. - Media and Public Relations Press work and media relations involve building and maintaining contacts with journalists and media representatives, writing and distributing press releases, as well as building a strong network of agencies. In public relations, the focus is on reputation management of the company in the public eye and the development of campaigns to increase brand awareness. - Digital Communication and Social Media This involves the development of strategies and content planning to effectively engage with audiences on relevant platforms. This includes maintaining the company's presence across these platforms and monitoring and analyzing the performance of social media content. - Brand and Stakeholder Management Brand communication and positioning focus on the development and maintenance of a consistent brand identity in external communications. This includes training employees and service providers on branding guidelines and effectively communicating any branding updates. Additionally, stakeholder management involves communication with investors, partners, and other key stakeholders. This process supports management in maintaining relationships with important external partners during appearances and facilitates the communication and expansion of partnerships with industry associations. - Analysis and Reporting This process includes the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of communication efforts, ensuring that strategies are data-driven and aligned with organizational goals. Qualifications Successful candidate will have a university degree with a Marketing and/or Communication focus and business content or a comparable qualification. At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in external communications, ideally in the MedTech or healthcare industry. - Experience in handling press releases, maintaining media contacts, and organizing events. - Knowledge in developing and implementing social media strategies and monitoring online content. - Experience using KPIs and analytical tools to assess communication impact. - Experience in setting-up and managing professional networks to external stakeholders and decision makers - Competency in issue management and development of talking points and messages - Calm decision-making, good presenting and communication skills in high pressure live environments - Proactive and independent work style with a high motivation to take responsibility. - Adaptability to changing circumstances and requirements. - Careful and precise work approach, especially in content creation. - Ability to work closely with various departments and external partners - Innovative mindset and the ability to find creative solutions to communication challenges. - Excellent communication, in-person, via email, over the phone, etc. - Understands company processes, and accurately follows policies and procedures - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both German and English.
