ESO carries out an ambitious programme focused on the design, construction and operation of powerful ground-based observing facilities for astronomy, in order to enable important scientific discoveries. These are exciting times for astronomy: technology now allows us to study objects at the far edge of the Universe and to detect evidence for planets around other stars.
Our IT team at ESO HQ provides services for Users, Operations, Science and ALMA (https://www.eso.org/public/teles-instr/alma/) and is supporting a large variety of activities from day to day standard tasks to support the preparation and execution of sky observation programs, the operation of ESO telescopes and delivery, curation and archive of scientific data.
For our customer ESO in the Munich area, Germany, we are looking for a Windows Engineer with wide technical knowledge on the design and operation of IT core services.
Responsibilities
Your tasks will typically include but are not limited to:
* Execute routine tasks and controlling activities
* Participate on 1st and 2nd line support teams for ticket classifications and windows related activities
* Root cause analysis and incident management for windows related incidents.
* Patch Management
* Deploy, test, maintain and operate Windows servers and Windows clients
using the following services:
*
o Microsoft system center config manager, Intune
o Citrix, RDS
o VMware infrastructure
o Exchange
o Active Directory
o DHCP, ADCS
o Office 365 and Azure AD
o McAfee EPO server / Antivirus Management.
* Participate on security audits and provide active feedback to increase the security levels
* Install and manage the licenses of optional software
* Participate on On-Call duty rotation scheme outside the normal support hours.
* Participate on scheduled changes implementation during IT maintenance Windows on Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays.
* Update and create Technical Documentation
Qualifications & Competencies
Applicants should have a university degree in Computer Science or similar. Degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics or Mathematics/Physics may also be suitable provided solid capabilities can be demonstrated.
Additionally you should bring knowledge with following:
* Exchange On-premise
* SCCM
* Citrix
* Intune
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
