Purpose of the position As Head of CapEx Projects at Intersnack you ensure that Intersnack is projects the right way. Your role is to ensure project excellence by setting standards, improving project quality, and fostering collaboration between engineering teams. You’ll act as a central competence hub, aligning CapEx planning with sustainability targets, standardizing engineering processes, and enabling energy efficiency across facilities. Responsibilities As Head of CapEx Projects, you will play a strategic leadership role in driving excellence across capital investments, engineering standards, and sustainability-driven innovation. Your focus will be on harmonizing processes, boosting project performance, and aligning cross-border initiatives within Intersnack’s international production network. Act as a central competence center for cutting-edge engineering technologies, technical innovations, cost optimization strategies, and forward-looking industrial approaches. Align CapEx project strategy with sustainability goals, ensuring full compliance with OGSM, ZLJM, Science-Based Targets (SBTi), and the company’s Net Zero roadmap. Challenge and support project planning across Management Units during early-stage CapEx development—ensuring robust investment budgets (buildings, utilities, equipment), realistic timelines, and strategic project scopes before submission for approval. Define and maintain strategic Equipment and Building Standards, including planning scalable rollouts across locations to improve delivery speed, reduce design workload, and increase operational consistency. Provide feedback to design teams in your role as Global Process Owner (GPO) – optimizing existing equipment setups and translating learnings into improved investment project outcomes. Lead the rollout and training of the Engineering Work Process (EWP) as part of the GPO function—standardizing how capital projects are planned and executed group-wide. Strengthen the CapEx Projects Engineering Community, fostering international knowledge exchange, collaborative teamwork, and synergies across CapEx initiatives—reducing inefficiencies and project losses. Build and support an active Energy Engineering Community, enabling the transfer of innovative energy solutions, best practices, and process know-how across countries and plants. Ensure CapEx master plans contribute to sustainability goals, including CO₂ reduction and energy efficiency—embedding these targets into the project planning and execution lifecycle. To succeed as Head of CapEx Projects, you’ll bring a strong combination of engineering expertise, strategic leadership, and experience in managing complex capital investment initiatives across industrial environments—preferably in food or process manufacturing. Education A Master’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a closely related technical field from a recognized university or college. Experience 10–15 years of relevant experience in engineering, technical project execution, or plant development—preferably with a strong CapEx component. At least 3–5 years in a leadership role, with demonstrated success in people management, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder communication. Proven project management capabilities, ideally with a PMI or IPMA certification, enabling structured project execution within large-scale investment portfolios. Industry knowledge in snack food manufacturing or packaging technology is a strong advantage, providing insights into technical standards, production processes, and supplier ecosystems. Technical Skills & Functional Expertise Deep technical knowledge aligned with CapEx project planning and execution Strong familiarity with Equipment & Building Standards, including harmonization and rollout across sites Competence in CapEx budgeting, engineering design, and stakeholder evaluation processes (BVOA) Proven skills in developing and implementing engineering strategies and technology solutions Experience in supplier engagement and CapEx procurement management Solid understanding of project governance frameworks and structured investment lifecycles Travel Requirements This role involves frequent travel (approx. 50%) across Europe and potentially to the Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) region. Regular on-site presence at suppliers, production facilities, and industry exhibitions is crucial to fulfilling project leadership and partnership responsibilities.
