Position Description
The joint and combined exercise (JCX) planner provides support service functions including, but not limited to:
Manage the Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS) to assist planning for joint and combined
exercises; Make technical updates to supporting systems as required; Facilitate the coordination and
implementation of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC); Monitor the Joint Operational Planning and Execution
System (JOPES); Validate and unlock entries as required to facilitate exercise personnel and equipment
requirements; Coordinate and assist exercise Action Officers as required in the various exercise planning
stages; Craft GO/FO level Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) messages; Coordinate exercise
requirements with funding manager; Produce various products and reports as requested; Provide technical
expertise, advice, and assistance to the JCX Branch Chief and staff; Coordinate with component and Joint Staff
J7 personnel; Process a Significant Mission Exercise Briefs (SMEB) when required; Action all requests for
information from Office of the Secretary of Defense and National Security Council that may be presented in
reference to the SMEB; Provide support of a standard Staff Officer functions

Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements: This is a journeyman position and the ideal candidate will possess operational
experience that includes awareness and/or participation in joint and combined operations/exercises at the
Combatant Command (CCMD) or Component level, and an operational understanding of JTIMS; Requires a
minimum of Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college or university and 10 years of
Military/DoD Civilian/DoD Contractor experience; Requires a minimum of 2 years CCMD HQ experience, Multi theater operational or senior staff (CCMD and/or Joint Staff) experience desired if candidate has no USEUCOM associated staff experience; Must be able to travel to countries in the USEUCOM Area of Responsibility; Should
have a working knowledge of United States’ Interagency processes and government agency activities and coordinating processes between USEUCOM Theater and strategic levels; Able to work under stress and
complete short fused requirements; Able to work extended hours in support of exercise requirements;
Applicant will possess skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer programs (specifically Excel,
Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word); Applicant will possess an adequate understanding of NATO and its
processes; Applicant will have experience and proven ability to organize/manage several projects; Applicant
must possess the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; Must be eligible for or hold a
TOP SECRET/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance
