U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Ordinarily Resident is defined as a U.S. citizen who is locally resident; and, has legal, permanent resident status within the host country; and, is subject to host country employment and tax laws.
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Minimum Qualifications
* Ability to Lead or Supervise: Assists with planning and organizing work activities for employees. Examples Include: Advise supervisor of problems involving disciplinary actions and counseling on conduct. Set goals and deadlines for accomplishing work; give instructions to employees on work procedures and safety.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Effort
The work requires standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds, may lift greater weights with assistance from others or by using materials handling equipment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a warehousing area or outside in all kinds of weather. Work areas may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, dirty, dusty, noisy, poorly lighted, and other adverse working conditions. Frequently exposed to cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. Exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas. Required to wear safety equipment appropriate for the work area. Types of protective equipment include, but are not limited to eye protection, respiratory protection, protective footwear, clothing such as gloves, aprons, etc., and ear protection devices. Other types may be required as deemed necessary by authorized management officials.
