Job Overview
As a System Hardware & EDA Flow Engineer at Salience Labs, you will play a crucial role in refining and expanding our automated EDA design flow for photonic and electronic integrated circuits. You will work across architecture, schematic entry, layout, and verification to enhance our tape-out process with a high degree of automation and confidence. Your expertise in hardware engineering, HDL design, and EDA tool will drive our ability to model, simulate, and implement cutting-edge opto-electronic systems.
️What you'll be doing:
* Maintaining and improving Salience Labs’ EDA flow from architecture through top-level schematic entry, layout, verification, and tape-out, in collaboration with the Photonics team.
* Owning LVS sign-off for tape-outs, ensuring high-quality and accurate circuit verification.
* Developing and maintaining system-level models to predict the performance and benefits of integrated opto-electronic solutions.
* Evaluating emerging techniques in mixed-signal opto-electronic modelling and simulation.
* Driving innovation in model implementation strategies and ensuring integration with industry-standard tools.
* Contributing to the definition and design space exploration of novel opto-electronic devices, balancing performance, scalability, power efficiency, latency, and bandwidth.
* Collaborating with commercial and engineering teams to translate architectural ideas into technical requirements and implementation guidelines.
* Debugging and improving DRC and LVS flows in EDA environments to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
What we're looking for
* Proficiency in hardware description languages (HDL), with SystemVerilog being a strong plus.
* Strong programming skills in one or more higher-level or scripting languages (Python, TCL, Perl, Skill), preferably in the context of Synopsys toolchains.
* Hands-on experience with design and layout using Synopsys Opto-Compiler.
* Background in analog/digital mixed-signal simulation for complex electro-optic systems.
* Expertise in debugging DRC and LVS flows within an EDA environment.
* A collaborative mindset with a passion for mentorship and knowledge sharing.
* Curiosity, innovative thinking, and a drive to push the boundaries of electro-optic technology.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
Even better if you
* Have experience integrating optical and electronic systems in high-speed computing or AI applications.
* Have worked with custom EDA automation frameworks to enhance tape-out efficiency.
* Are familiar with hardware acceleration techniques for optical computing architectures.
* Have a track record of successfully tapeing-out photonic/electronic ICs with a high degree of automation.
This is a unique opportunity to pioneer EDA automation in an emerging field, ensuring the seamless tape-out of highly integrated electro-optic designs with enhanced automation and confidence. If you’re excited about solving complex challenges at the intersection of electronics, photonics, and automation, we’d love to hear from you!
