Exciting opportunity for a Field Application Engineer to help bring innovative in-car entertainment systems to market. The objective of this role is to help bring Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision to cars, this means working with car manufacturers, Tier 1 automotive OEMs, and middleware/software makers. This role will provide technical support during pre-sales, integration, and post-sales of Dolby’s licensed technologies.
Responsibilities and functions
• Support the delivery of commercial wins defined by the Commercial Partnerships Europe Automotive goals.
• Provide detailed systems-level support for Dolby Audio Technologies to Dolby’s automotive customers. • Support and resolve issues regarding Dolby Technologies in product development and deployment.
• Provide pre-sales support, technical training to customers, and support to accounting managers as required.
• Provide relevant technical analysis of the customer’s systems across In-vehicle- Infotainment, streaming services integration, and cabin acoustics.
• Assist customer in navigating Dolby’s certification process.
• Work closely with the European account management team. In conjunction with the rest of the sales group, evangelize Dolby technologies to the automotive and consumer electronics market.
• Document information and share key learnings with the wider technical community in Dolby.
• Give regular and influential specialist advice to peers and customers and always works to raise the level of expertise within Dolby and its customers.
• Actively maintain awareness of key industry issues, live entertainment practices and commercial reality. Keep up to date with market and commercial developments in and outside of Dolby.
Required
• Degree or equivalent in Science, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Music Technology.
• Experience as a Sales Engineer (at least one year). • Ability to understand requirements for audio and video technologies used in entertainment or automotive applications.
• Ability to get develop and maintain an in-depth professional knowledge of the Dolby products and technologies associated with entertainment or automotive industry.
• Able to work and learn on own initiative and with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel (approx. 30% of the time on average), mostly within Europe, and a willingness to work outside normal office hours, when required.
• Naturally stay clear thinking and calm while handling objections; be clear on own objectives but aim for win/win solution on behalf of Dolby & our customers.
Nice to have is some experience in at least one of the following tracks:
Automotive o Understanding of automotive supply chain.
o Understanding of automotive software stack and how the software components are interconnected. Knowledge of Infotainment subsystem is a plus.
Audio
o Understanding of audio (digital audio, audio processing, spatial and immersive audio, playback systems, etc.)
o Understanding of acoustics (acoustic fundamentals, psychoacoustics, sound measurements, spatial characteristics, electroacoustics, etc.)
Vision o Understanding of video (basics of imaging and picture quality, codecs, formats, standards, display technology, etc.)
