The Role
We are looking for an experienced HR, Legal Affairs and Works Council Partner to manage the interface between the Hitachi Vantara business, the Human Resources department and the Works Council in Germany. In this role you will nurture a constructive relationship between Employer and the Works council, serving both the employee and company interests. You will ensure the company complies with all necessary requirements in terms of information, consultation and codetermination, while ensuring productive collaboration between the Employer and Works Council, enabling the company to implement their Corporate strategy and supporting business growth. Your role will encompass ownership for, and resolution of, any Court Action related to individual or collective employee matters. You will be also responsible for compliance with data protection initiatives and will have the opportunity to participate on EMEA wide HR projects and support the regional HR team on general tasks.
What you will be doing
* Acting as an employer representative towards the Works Council and assisting the Human Resources team with managing Works Council relations, including support for meetings and future Works Council elections, and supporting and advising based on the Works Constitution Act
* Creating and maintaining a positive constructive working atmosphere between the Works Council and employer through regular and transparent dialogue
* Taking responsibility for assigned Works Council requests, their examination and conclusion of Works Council's agreements / collective agreements, including negotiation management
* Coordination of topics from different departments and their grouping in order to achieve an efficient work flow/cooperation with the Works Council
* Supporting data protection matters related to the German Works Council under guidance of and in coordination with the EMEA Legal Team
* Annual training/education for the international managers concerning the German Works Council, including actual developments and legal innovations
* Project Management activities to ensure compliance with German law, internal Policies and international rules with the goal to implement long-term efficient solutions for the business
* Supporting global HR Business Partners with preparatory and administrative activities/tasks regarding on-going projects
What you bring to the team
* Law, Economics or HR related education, with strong German labor law knowledge and understanding
* Experience as an HR Manager covering Germany and managing labor law matters
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills - fluent in both English & German
* An ability to apply legal knowledge to serve business outcomes
* A pragmatic approach and well-developed negotiation skills
* Ability to build positive relationships and influence key stakeholders
