We are looking for a new colleague to join our Team in Potsdam on a full-time basis /40 hour a week starting as soon as possible.
The opportunity:
This role offers a unique opportunity to be a key member of a caring academic team. The Psychological Counsellor will design and implement mental health programs and support student success and well-being by offering individual support. The purpose of this position is to create a supportive, inclusive campus by enhancing students' mental health, well-being, and academic success. The Psychological Counsellor will provide counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, and workshops, while collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure students have the resources to thrive.
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
* Individual Support: Provide confidential individual counselling to students facing a range of emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues
* Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention for our students during mental health crises. Develop and implement crisis management plans in coordination with other university departments and local resources
* Outreach and Education: Develop and present workshops, seminars, and training programs on mental health topics to students, faculty, and staff. Create and distribute educational materials to promote mental health awareness and resources available on campus
* Consultation and Collaboration: Consult with faculty, staff, and administration regarding student mental health concerns and best practices for supporting students. Collaborate with campus organizations, health services, and community resources to enhance the overall mental health support system for students
* Workshop Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative mental health programs and services at our university in collaboration with the Student Success Center
Your profile
Qualifications:
* Master of Psychology with a specialization in clinical counselling or professional experience; Master in Pedagogy with a specialization with young adults; or Master in Clinical Social Work or other related fields.
* Entry-Level job
* Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with diverse student populations, including international students, students of colour, LGBTQ+ students, and students with disabilities.
* Familiarity with telehealth services and digital mental health platforms.
* Ability to develop and lead psychoeducational programs and workshops.
