However, dysregulated due to mutations, environmental factors or life style, inflammation does more bad than good. Indeed, chronic inflammation stands behind such pathologies as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegeneration, cancer and many other diseases of the modern-day society. The Andreeva lab focuses on structural and functional aspects of inflammatory pathways underlying these pathologies. By using a combination of structural, biochemical and cell-based approaches we aim to comprehensively explain inflammatory pathways from molecular to cellular level, which is crucial for clinical applications and development of novel anti-inflammatory treatments, as well as next generation cancer diagnostics and therapeutics, which are the main goal of the iFIT Cluster of Excellence »Image Guided and Functionally Instructed Tumor Therapies (iFIT)« consortium, which we are part of.
