The Commercial Asset Management (“CAM”) function in RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) commercially manages the Asset Fleet of RWE Power AG and RWE Generation SE, and develops opportunities by connecting Generation, Trading and Grid Business combined with Market and Regulatory expertise. Currently, a lot is happening in the German generation market – with “Kraftwerksstrategie” and capacity market introduction being the 2 most prominent developments driving new generation assets. Luckily we can benefit from a large pipeline of project opportunities, and for the foreseeable future we expect to realise a lot of attractive projects. As a consequence, we’re looking for a highly motivated new team member, initially for two years, who combines commercial drive with strong project management skills and wants to work within our professional team. About the role Working at the interface of commercial markets and cutting-edge technology, realising innovative projects that merge market developments with technological advancements, driving growth and transformation. Being responsible for Asset Development of H2-ready power generation projects which fit to RWE’s ‘2040 net zero CO2’ strategy (from classical ‘big’ gas-fired power stations (CCGT / OCGT / CHP) to small, distributed generation assets (e.g. Gas Engines)). Steering the whole process from Idea Generation (‘Scouting’) up to Final Investment Decision (‘FID’), including all disciplines like Commercial, Conceptual Design, Contractual, Legal and Permitting. Developing tailor-made technical and commercial concepts supporting the energy transition, liaising with internal and external experts. Negotiating with both external entities (e.g. customers, contractors) and internal stakeholders to build the contractual base for a value adding new asset and ensuring commercial viability of ‘your’ project, e.g. by successfully participating in new-build auctions. Ultimately bringing ‘your’ projects to FID. Job requirements and experience University degree, ideally in a ‘MINT’ subject, preferably combined with a commercial / economical education or background and technology interest. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to thrive in a team environment and strive for transparency and collaboration with integrity, openness, willingness for change and trust. Strong project management skills with a proven track record of taking ownership of projects and “making things work”. Desire to work in a highly professional environment with the goal to jointly bring projects to FID – ability to lead and to support as required to reach the common goal. Experience in analysing requirements and developing commercial and technical solutions. Fluent in English and German. Advantageous, but not essential Experience in negotiating external commercial contracts is a plus. A further European language is of advantage.
