Your mission / Objectives of the position We seek a highly motivated and experienced Policy and Public Funding Manager to join the Smartenergy team in our subsidiary in Hamburg. The Policy and Public Funding Manager will identify, apply for, and manage public funding opportunities for our green hydrogen- and related projects in Germany. The project landscape covers renewable energy, BESS storage, green hydrogen production and its derivates. This role will be critical in successfully developing and deploying our hydrogen, energy and storage projects. You will work closely with our international project development and engineering teams and report to the Director of Policy and Public Funding. Tasks and responsibilities Identify public funding opportunities for green hydrogen projects and other technologies (e.g., storage), including grants and blended financing instruments focusing on Germany; Prepare and submit funding applications, including project proposals and budget estimates; Work closely with project development and engineering teams to ensure funding requirements are met and project timelines are on track; Manage the reporting and compliance requirements associated with funding agreements; Manage consortia of projects and partners of the entire hydrogen and energy ecosystem. Seek alignment in meeting common targets, policies, and requirements; Build and maintain relationships with government agencies and funding partners; Lead activities with German associations and stakeholders; Participate in associations’ workgroup meetings and develop content with the team; Support the team regarding activities with major EU associations; Represent Smartenergy in such associations; Thought-leading participation in conferences and exhibitions; Independent tasks arising from teamwork may be added to the daily tasks. Your profile / requirements Bachelor's / Masters degree in a relevant field, such as business, finance, or engineering; 3 years of experience in public funding, grant writing, and project management or similar experience, ideally with previous experience in applying for public funding for renewable projects; Ideally, experience in applications to public funding programs or similar activity, preferably in Germany; Experience in policy frameworks and advocacy, preferably in Germany; Good understanding of renewable energy and hydrogen technologies and their applications; German native or C2 (Proficient); Excellent overall English proficiency (in verbal and written), and additional language skills, preferably in Portuguese, Spanish, French and/or Italian, are highly welcomed; Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; Driven personality with an independent working style; Practical, analytical, and logical problem-solving skills.
