Your responsibilities
Duties primarily include teaching and research. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
Own research is supported, but it has to fall in the scientific field of machine learning and Geophysics. The candidate is expected to supervise students on bachelor and master level. Teaching duties include four academic teaching hours per week during teaching periods.
Your profile
A university degree in a relevant field plus doctorate.
For this position you need an understanding of geophysical problems and machine learning algorithms. Good programming skills on Python and experience with machine learning libraries are required. A background in Geophysics (e.g. Seismology) is helpful. You should be interested in learning from data in order to understand different kinds of geophysical processes. Fluent English (spoken and written) and good communication skills are mandatory. Knowledge of German as well as teaching experience is helpful.
