The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term up to 31 December 2028. The fixed-term employment is possible as it constitutes one of the fixed-term options of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German Act on Fixed-term Scientific Contracts). This is a part-time position (75 % of the standard weekly hours for full-time employees). With suitable qualifications, there is the possibility of a full-time position with teaching activities. The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position. The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L). The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L. Unser Profil The Chair for Algebra and Number Theory at RWTH Aachen University pursues research and teaching of algebraic structures, their representations as well as computational and algorithmic aspects and their applications, e.g., within mathematics, the sciences and engineering. Ihr Profil Requirement for hiring is a university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in mathematics (or closely related subject). Ideally the candidate can demonstrate a solid background in commutative algebra and experience in applying computer algebra systems. Candidates distinguish themselves with initiative and independence and strong work ethics (e.g. teamwork, structured approach to tasks), and have very good communication skills.
