As part of the German government's artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, the successful Saxon competence center ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig (Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence) is being expanded into a leading German AI competence center for Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
At the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS), the Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI Dresden) offers two positions as
Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting at the earliest possible date. The position is limited to three years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (usually PhD).

Research area: Large language models (LLMs), knowledge graphs (KGs), commonsense knowledge
foundational or applied research in at least one of the following areas: LLMs, KGs, knowledge extraction, knowledge integration, KG completeness, commonsense-reasoning or similar
preparation of publications for submission to top-tier NLP or AI venues
contribution to teaching and/or local BSc./MSc. thesis supervision
collaboration in national or international research projects (optional)
university degree (typically M.Sc.) in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Mathematics or a related field
solid knowledge in one of the relevant research areas
excellent programming skills are desired
strong interest in basic research
