Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.
Duties Description The Trades Generalist will work on the construction and maintenance of buildings, boardwalks, docks, sign standards, kiosks, trails, parking areas, fishing access and hunting sites. The candidate will be required to use the hand tools, portable power tools, heavy equipment, shop equipment, measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the work assigned.
• This position requires a knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the trade(s) to which they are assigned.
• Knowledge of applicable standards and plumbing and electrical code regulations.
• Transport and operate heavy equipment.
• Train and supervise others.
• Plan and lay out work and diagnose problems.
• Understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Perform other duties as needed.
