The Medical Faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg invites applications for seven positions within the mikroPank research consortium. This interdisciplinary initiative is dedicated to developing preclinical, patient-specific models to advance personalized treatments for pancreatic cancer patients.
Research Assistant (m-f-d)
(E 13, 100 %)
We are hiring:
* Three Postdoctoral researchers (E 13, 100 %), reference number: -D
Activities and responsibilities
All positions are available immediately and are temporary, until December 31, 2027.
About the mikroPank consortium:
The consortium is deticated to creating 3D tumor models from primary, patient-derived tumor cells and components of the tumor microenvironment, such as fibroblasts, adipocytes, and immune cells. These models replicate the patient-s tumor in-vitro to study mechanisms of drug resistance using advanced technologies, including single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and CRISPR-based genome editing. By integrating natural sciences and clinical expertise, the consortium aims to advance research towards innovative, personalized therapies for pancreatic cancer patients.
Work Tasks:
* Cultivation of pancreatic tumor organoids and cells of the tumor microenvironment
* Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq)
* Genetic manipulation of cells using CRISPR
* Independent project management
* Participation in national and international collaborations
* Opportunity for own scientific qualification
Requirements:
* Completed scientific university degree in the field of life sciences (Master)
* Completed PhD degree in the field of life sciences
* Experience with cell culture techniques, ideally experience in the culture of pan-creatic tumor organoids
* Knowledge of lentiviral transduction
* Practical experience with single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq)
* Programming experience in R is an advantage
* Scientific processing, presentation and publication of achieved results
* Very good written and spoken English language skills
* Analytical and problem-oriented thinking
* Structured and thorough way of working
* Ability to work in a team
What We Offer:
* Collaborative research environment with communication in English
* Access to state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and resources
