Your Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Data Engineering to lead our data engineering team, with experience in the semiconductor industry or other highly automated sectors, with an understanding of customer needs for material quality and reliability. You will be tasked with focusing on data architecture, pipeline development, and team leadership, with the goal of utilizing data to drive business success through effective use case development. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data solutions that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Roadmap Leadership: Own and drive the Data & Digital Tools roadmap, aligning development initiatives with long-term business objectives to leverage data for predictive quality, reduced scrap, and enhanced productivity.
2. Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of growth, technical excellence, and innovation.
3. Data Pipeline Management: Design, implement, and manage standardized data pipelines, efficiently handling 100-500+ pipelines with precision and scalability.
4. Application Development: Develop and manage front-end applications using Foundry Workshop, Slate, or equivalent AWS-based tools, delivering impactful solutions that eliminate manual processes and enhance user experience.
5. Ontology Management: Comply with Foundry's ontology framework to ensure seamless data governance, accessibility, and compliance.
6. Cost Optimization in Cloud Services: Act as a platform owner, implementing strategies with optimized architectures to minimize unnecessary cloud expenses and enhance resource utilization.
7. Data Governance: Establish and maintain high standards of data quality, security, and compliance throughout all data engineering processes.
8. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT Business Partners, Architects, Operations, and Business Units, to define and deliver impactful data solutions that meet organizational needs.
You will demonstrate your ability to act as a technical owner for enterprise-wide data platforms, driving innovation while optimizing costs.
Who You Are:
* Master’s degree in computer science, Mechatronics, Data Science, or a related field with 10 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in Foundry or AWS development.
* Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (25% travel required).
* Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Hadoop or similar) and advanced development skills in PySpark and Pandas within Foundry for sophisticated data processing, including lazy execution and incremental transformations.
* Strong experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Foundry dataset, Snowflake or similar) and lakehouse frameworks.
* Proficiency in SQL, Python, and distributed data processing frameworks.
* Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CloudFormation), and DevOps principles.
* Enterprise System Expertise: Experience integrating and managing data from various enterprise systems, including ERP systems (SAP S4 Hana, Quattro, PRD), LabWare, Historian Databases (IP21, Osi Pi), RDBMS (MSSQL, PostgreSQL), and APIs for platforms such as Salesforce and SharePoint and Real-Time Data Processing.
