Our client is a well-established and publicly listed corporation whose shares are traded in the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The investment holding has a strong track record in SME investments, focusing on innovative and technological sectors. They operate in a high-performance environment with high financial and regulatory requirements. They are now seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to strengthen their team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in shaping the financial strategy of an established long-term investor based in Frankfurt, Germany.
What the job involves
* Collaborate closely with the executive management team and board members to support long-term strategic direction and ensure robust financial performance
* Oversee and manage all financial operations, including the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements under IFRS
* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, tax laws, and corporate governance standards, including reporting to relevant authorities
* Manage investor relations, including handling inquiries and ensuring transparent communication
* Oversee capital structure, manage debt, and ensure efficient use of capital to maximise returns
* Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models in Excel and group reporting in LucaNet to support decision-making
* Identify and mitigate financial risks, including those related to market fluctuations, regulatory changes, and operational challenges
* Lead continuous improvement and digitalisation efforts for internal financial processes and reporting structures
* Lead and coordinate external audit processes, working closely with internal and external accounting and auditor teams to ensure accurate and timely financial statement preparation
* Act as the primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other stakeholders
Who we are looking for
* Strong academic record with focus on finance, accounting and auditing
* CPA or equivalent qualification is a plus
* Proven track record as a finance professional/investment controller or in a relevant field
* Audit background is highly appreciated
* Strong expertise in financial reporting and consolidation under IFRS and German GAAP (HGB), including management and budget planning
* Strong knowledge of internal control systems (ICS) and risk management (RMS)
* Hands-on experience in investment management & controlling, with a strong ability to analyse financial data and evaluate business models
* Ability to quickly grasp complex topics, prioritise effectively, and adapt to new challenges
* Independent, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach
* Strong interpersonal skills, business acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a group structure while maintaining professionalism and assertiveness
* Comfortable working with compliance, regulatory frameworks, and risk management
* Ability to engage confidently with auditors, regulators, and portfolio company CFOs
* High level of discretion and ability to operate in a strictly confidential environment
* Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
* Proficient in MS Office and familiar with financial consolidation tools such as Lucanet
* Fluent in English (financial reporting language) and strong German skills (business level)
