This covers all current Local National employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany, including U.S. Air Force and AAFES-Europe within Germany and EXTERNAL Local National Applicants, who reside in Germany. Hauptaufgaben Serves as translator within the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate. Performs translating and interpreting duties. Translates from German into English and vice versa, a variety of legal documents requiring a thorough understanding of technical legal terms in both languages and the applicability of such terms to the subject or case involved. Translates official German legal documents concerning court decisions and judgments decrees and laws issued by German Governmental agencies into English, and American legal documents of the same nature into German. Translates other legal instruments including leases, agreements, private contracts and the like. Interprets court proceedings, as required in meetings, conferences, and in court. Takes notes of proceedings as directed by supervisor. Performs general office operational functions such as establishment and maintenance of files, control of action correspondence, submission of statistical and other reports as required, operation of reception desk, scheduling of appointment and conferences, etc. Occasionally types own translations or other documents. Performs other duties as assigned.
