In cooperation with the Chair of Technology of Optical Systems TOS at RWTH Aachen University, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, Europe's leading center for contract research and development in the field of laser technology, is offering the opportunity to write a thesis in the "Surface Technology and Shape Ablation" department.
The development of a specialized ink for the spray application of corrosion protection layers on bipolar plates is of crucial importance for increasing the efficiency and longevity of fuel cell systems. Bipolar plates act as carriers and distributors of fuel and oxidizing agents. As a result, they are often exposed to aggressive, corrosive environments that can compromise their structural integrity and functionality. A well-developed ink enables the uniform and precise application of protective coatings that effectively prevent corrosion. This not only helps to extend the lifetime of the bipolar plates, but also to increase the overall performance and reliability of the fuel cell. The aim of this work is to evaluate the influences of various components on the processability of the special inks.
