In recent years, the incorporation of machine learning methods to enhance optimization has proven to be advantageous. Despite these advantages, the applications to complex and certifiable products remain limited. We are looking for a creative Master student who is willing to explore novel optimization methods to improve and develop our algorithms for robust multi-aircraft formation flight. The exploration may involve a wide range of methods, spanning from geometrical approaches to state-of-the-art deep learning techniques. The student will benefit from the close support of experienced members from our research and technology team, a plateau tasked with development of advanced algorithms. The department "Flight Management Systems" at Airbus Defence and Space is in charge of system design and development of military and civil Flight Management Systems (FMS) and Flight Guidance functions. This covers manned aircraft and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) like Barracuda and Eurodrone, including automatic/autonomous operations of these unmanned aircraft. Desired skills and qualifications - Enrolled full-time Master student (d/f/m) in Mathematics, Computer Science, Aeronautical Engineering or a similar field of study. - Relevant software development experience in Python and/or C++. - Familiarity and excitement for optimization, machine learning and path planning. - Very good English skills. - Excellent team player.
